Report on Inauguration of Sensitisation Programme on Aikyashree Scholarship
Representatives from Loreto College were privileged to attend the Inauguration of the Sensitisation Programme on the Aikyashree Scholarship held on 26 February 2026 at the University of Calcutta. The programme aimed at spreading awareness regarding minority scholarships and strengthening institutional coordination for effective implementation.
The Chief Guest for the occasion was Siddiqullah Chowdhury, Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Mass Education Extension and Library Services, Government of West Bengal. In his address, he emphasized the importance of ensuring that financial assistance schemes such as Aikyashree reach eligible students in a timely and transparent manner. He highlighted the State Government’s commitment to inclusive education and equitable access to higher learning opportunities for minority communities.
The programme was presided over by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calcutta, in the presence of the Registrar and the Inspector of Colleges, who collectively underlined the responsibility of affiliated institutions in facilitating smooth processing of scholarship applications and supporting students throughout the documentation and verification stages.
Loreto College was represented by Mrs. Anne Biswas, Nodal Officer (Scholarships) and another member of the Scholarship Committee Ms. Sharmila Mitra Deb. The session provided valuable insights into procedural updates, digital submission processes, and best practices for institutional coordination.
The programme proved to be informative and constructive, reinforcing the shared commitment of the University and affiliated colleges toward strengthening access to higher education through effective scholarship implementation.
