Facilities for the Differently Abled Loreto College is committed to promoting equity, accessibility, and inclusion in higher education. In alignment with its inclusive policy framework and statutory requirements, the College has institutionalised multiple measures to ensure a barrier-free and inclusive campus environment for the differently abled students. Barrier free environment

• All buildings on the campus are equipped with ramps (with and without handrails) at the entrances, designed with appropriate gradients to ensure safe and comfortable access for wheelchair users and others with mobility challenges.

• Lift facilities are available within the College building to enable seamless access to academic spaces across floors for persons with physical disabilities, including wheelchair users,

• Wheelchairs are available for emergency use, along with trained male and female attendants to assist Divyangjan students whenever required.

• The campus building has lift of standard dimensions, ensuring smooth vertical mobility for persons with physical disabilities and others.

• The college building has accessible washrooms and toilets for the differently abled, equipped with handrails and clear signage for Divyangjan students.

• Washrooms for Divyangjan students are designed with grab rails/handrails, adequate manoeuvring space for wheelchairs, and washbasins placed at user-friendly heights.

• Floors in classrooms, laboratories, library, conference halls, canteen, hostels, washrooms, toilets, and offices are finished with non-slippery surface tiles to prevent accidents.

• Doors, entrances, and corridors across all buildings are wide, well-ventilated, and adequately illuminated to ensure ease of movement and safety.

• In support of inclusive institutional values and environmental consciousness, Braille signages are installed at strategic locations across the campus, enabling visually challenged students to navigate classrooms, offices, and other facilities independently.

Accessible and Inclusive Learning Spaces • All classrooms, laboratories, conference halls, auditoriums, and smart classrooms are wheelchair accessible. • All classrooms are smart classrooms to support inclusive teaching–learning processes and to address the needs of students with visual, speech, and hearing impairments. • The college has membership of online library for people with disabilities through DELNET.

• NVDA Screen Reader for the visually challenged has been installed in the library computers

Provisions for Examination The College ensures inclusive and equitable examination practices for Divyang students by permitting and facilitating the use of scribes during examinations, in accordance with the Government of India, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Office Memorandum F. No. 34-02/2015-DO-UI dated 29 August 2018. • Visually challenged students may choose their own scribe. • The scribe may hold a higher qualification but must not have studied the same subject/optional/language as the candidate. • Physically challenged, visually challenged, and hearing- challenged students, along with their scribes, are provided 20 minutes of additional time per hour during examinations. Loreto College is committed to the continuous strengthening of an inclusive, accessible, and barrier-free learning environment. Building on existing inclusive practices, the College aims to enhance participation, and social inclusion of students with disabilities through:

• Ongoing sensitization and capacity-building initiatives for faculty and students to foster inclusive pedagogy, empathy, and a socially responsive campus culture.
