Alumnae Association

The Loreto College Alumnae Association was formally registered as a Society in January 2000. While one of its main objectives is to disseminate the basic ideals of a Loreto education and encourage community work, the association strives to assist its Alma Mater in various ways. Over the past years, LCAA has donated prizes to encourage meritorious scholars, granted scholarships and stipends to deserving yet needy students in the college, made donations for books and medicines to other Loreto schools and contributed to the college Roof Fund.

In 2001, the Association organized a seminar - "Women and the Media." This evoked an enthusiastic response and was attended by members of the academic community from various city colleges. A panel discussion was organized as part of the proceedings and the panellists consisted of past pupils who have become eminent media personalities or well-known academics. Since then, the LCAA periodically conducts events like Women's Health Week, to support the students and staff of the College.

In 2025, the LCAA celebrated its Silver Jubilee with the grand celebrations spanning a whole year from 2024 to 2025. The celebratory events included a Reunion Dinner, Social Outreach Events, a Panel Discussion comprising Eminent Alumnae, and a Grand Homecoming Celebration.

The annual Reunion is a much-anticipated event. Besides renewing old college acquaintances, it cultivates a feeling of fellowship among the Alumnae members and keeps them in touch with their Alma Mater. Alumnae members are also invited to attend the College Open Day held each December where they can interact with the current students and further strengthen the bonds within the Loreto Sorority.

Alumnae Contributions

The LCAA gives the Loreto College Alumnae Association Prize to a student in the General Course for all round contribution to college life.

Lakshmi Chatterji Award is for Alumnae with Lifetime Achievement working for Women/Girl Child.

The Loreto College Alumnae Association routinely supports Loreto College in strengthening its infrastructure and advancing various institutional initiatives. One of its notable contributions has been to the college library through the establishment of a dedicated Alumnae Corner, where books purchased for the collection are sponsored by the LCAA. The library also houses a special section titled Alumnae Publications, which showcases books authored by alumnae of the college.

The LCAA has further extended its support to the Swosti Mental Health Clinic and continues to work towards financing and providing in-kind assistance for several other initiatives undertaken by the college. In addition, the Association periodically organizes events and engagement programmes for both staff and students, thereby fostering continued interaction and collaboration between the alumnae community and the institution.
