Central facilities

Central Facilities for Research

Loreto College is committed to fostering a robust research culture by providing state-of-the-art infrastructure and resources. Our central facilities are designed to support faculty and students in their pursuit of academic excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, and innovative inquiry.

1. Research & Development Cell (RDC)

The RDC acts as the hub for all investigative activities on campus. It provides an organized framework for:

  • Administrative Guidance: Assistance with grant applications (UGC, ICSSR, etc.) and project management.
  • IPR Support: Dedicated counselling for Intellectual Property Rights and patent filing. 
  • Ethics & Compliance: There may be a provision of an Institutional Ethics Committee to ensure all research meets global standards of integrity.

2. Digital Infrastructure & Computing                       

The college provides high-speed connectivity and advanced computing power to facilitate data-driven research:

  • ICT Labs: Equipped with high-end workstations and specialized software such as SPSS for statistical analysis and ArcGIS/QGIS for spatial data.
  • Campus-Wide Connectivity: A secure, high-speed Wi-Fi network ensures seamless access to online resources from any point on campus.
  • Media Center: A facility for digital archiving and the production of educational research content.

3. Advanced Library & E-Resources

Beyond our extensive physical collection, the Loreto College Library offers specialized research support:

  • Digital Databases: The college provided subscription-based access to various high-quality academic journals and portals. 
  • Institutional Repository: A digital archive of faculty publications, a number ofs peer-reviewed journals, and award-winning student dissertations.
  • Plagiarism Detection: Access to Drillbit or similar industry-standard software to maintain the highest levels of academic honesty.

4. Specialized Laboratories

Our central facilities include department-specific labs that are open for interdisciplinary research:

  • Psychology Laboratory: Equipped with modern psychometric instruments and experimental apparatus for behavioural studies.
  • Geography Laboratory: Features advanced surveying equipment, GPS tools, and a rich collection of aerial photographs and satellite imagery.
  • B.Ed. Learning Resource Centre: A specialized unit for pedagogical research and the development of innovative teaching-learning materials.

5. Dissemination & Collaborative Spaces

Research thrives on dialogue. We provide several venues for the exchange of ideas:

  • Conference Halls: Fully ICT-enabled spaces like the Concert Hall and Seminar Rooms for hosting national and international webinars and symposia.
  • IQAC Room: A dedicated space for collaborative meetings focused on quality enhancement in research.
