Solar Panel

Loreto College inaugurated its expanded Solar Power Plant on March 2, 2026. The ceremony, hosted by the W.E. Nature Society in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell, commenced with a prayer and blessing by Father Michael. The official inauguration was conducted by Sister Agnes, Superior of the community, in the presence of Sister A. Nirmala, Teacher-in-Charge, the IQAC Coordinator, faculty, and students from the UG, PG, and B.Ed. departments.
Reflecting the vision of Sister A. Nirmala, the institution has significantly increased its solar capacity from 40 kW to a total of 95 kW. While the initial system utilized polycrystalline panels, the new 55 kW addition features advanced Mono PERC panels (555 Wp) donated by EXIDE as part of their CSR initiative.
This upgraded infrastructure is projected to generate approximately 133,000 units of electricity annually, meeting nearly 95% of the college’s energy requirements. Beyond fiscal efficiency, the environmental impact is profound, with an estimated annual reduction of 109 metric tons of CO2—equivalent to planting nearly 5,000 trees. Through this milestone, Loreto College reaffirms its dedication to fostering a self-sufficient, green campus and setting a benchmark for sustainable development in higher education.
