Assembly on International day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation

Today, a 10-minute assembly was organized to observe the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation, aiming to raise awareness about this serious human rights issue. The assembly was presented by a group of five members, Sunanda Basu, Surbhi Sarda, Aalia Hassan, Tandra Dey and Upasana De, and began with a clear introduction to the concept of FGM, helping the audience understand what it is and why it continues to exist. This was followed by a brief historical background, the objectives of observing this day, and a discussion on the wide-ranging impact of FGM on individuals and society. Throughout the presentation, a thoughtfully designed poster was projected behind the presenters, reinforcing the message visually and strengthening the overall impact of the assembly. The 
assembly concluded with the observation of one minute’s silence in remembrance of the victims and survivors of FGM. This moment created a deep sense of reflection and empathy among the audience, making the message more powerful and emotionally resonant.

Key observations: 
The assembly helped students understand the importance of speaking up against harmful practices, the role of education in promoting gender equality, and the need for collective responsibility in protecting human rights. Overall, the event was impactful and successful, leaving the audience more informed, sensitive, and aware of the significance of zero tolerance toward Female Genital Mutilation.

The assembly proved to be meaningful and impactful, successfully conveying the seriousness of Female Genital Mutilation and the importance of zero tolerance toward such practices.
