Report on NEP Lecture Series Session 7

The Centre for Life Skills, Loreto College, Kolkata, in collaboration with the Indian Association of Life Skills Education (Chennai), successfully organized the seventh lecture in the NEP Lecture Series on 16 March 2026. The session, titled “Prevention over Cure: Promoting Psychological Immunity in Students,” aligned with the vision of the National Education Policy (2020) to foster holistic and transformative education. 

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Sister Dr A. Nirmala, Teacher-in-Charge, who emphasized the significance of integrating life skills into education to nurture resilience, empathy, and responsible citizenship among students. The presidential address by Dr A. Radhakrishnan highlighted the growing mental health challenges among youth and stressed the urgent need for preventive approaches within educational institutions.

The keynote speaker, Dr Priscilla Sathianathan, a distinguished psychologist, delivered an insightful lecture focusing on psychological immunity as an essential life skill. She underscored the importance of emotional regulation, resilience, coping strategies, and early intervention in addressing issues such as academic pressure, anxiety, and social isolation. The session emphasized the role of educators, parents, and institutions in creating supportive environments that strengthen students’ mental well-being. 

The interactive session witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, educators, and professionals across institutions. It served as a meaningful platform for dialogue on integrating life skills education into mainstream pedagogy.

The session concluded with a renewed commitment to promoting mental health awareness and building psychologically resilient learners for a healthier and more inclusive society.
