In recent times more and more students are moving towards conducting research, which is imperative for academic growth. Keeping this in mind, the Department of History organised a webtalk on Historical Research on December 17, 2021. The speaker, Professor Anindita Mukhopadhyay from the University of Hyderabad, elucidated how research in History is not just about the subject but also about a deep involvement with the learning of languages. She mentioned how, while narrativising, one can embrace a huge range of sources in History including myths and legends, all of which are also narratives. Professor Mukhopadhyay explained how there is no single past but a huge range of pasts that have to be tapped. She expounded on the challenges and fears of the researcher along with the hopes and sense of fulfillment experienced after conducting a study.
