Loreto College Collaborates with The Bhawanipur Education Society College at Student’s Conference 2026: New Intellectuals
On April 16, 2026, Loreto College, in collaboration with The Bhawanipur Education Society College, actively participated in the Student’s Conference 2026: New Intellectuals, an academic platform designed to foster critical inquiry, interdisciplinary dialogue, and student-led scholarship and as a part of their MoU venture.
The collaboration was rooted in a shared commitment to academic engagement and intellectual exchange, providing students with an opportunity to present research, engage in discussions, and interact with peers from diverse academic backgrounds. The conference served as a dynamic space for emerging scholars to articulate their perspectives on pressing global and contemporary issues.
The conference revolved around a set of thought-provoking themes, encouraging nuanced exploration and critical debate. These included “Waterfront, Warfront & Hydro-hegemony,” which examined the intersections of geography, politics, and resource control; “The Paradox, Irony and Conundrum of Artificial Intelligence AI or I,” which explored the ethical and philosophical implications of technological advancement; and “Elasticity of Time – Permanence, Politics & Praxis,” which invited reflections on temporality in historical, political, and social contexts.
A special thematic focus, “War, Words & Wealth,” resonated strongly with current global realities, prompting participants to analyse the interconnected roles of conflict, discourse, and economic power in shaping contemporary world order. Students presented papers, engaged in panel discussions, and contributed to vibrant intellectual exchanges that reflected both academic rigour and creative insight.
The conference not only enhanced students’ research and presentation skills but also encouraged critical thinking, collaborative learning, and interdisciplinary engagement. It provided a platform for young intellectuals to voice informed opinions and develop a deeper understanding of complex global challenges. Amiya Kar and Sneha Guha won the Best paper awards and Best presenters for Special theme: War, Words and Wealth and Theme: Elasticity of Time- Permanence, Politics & Praxis respectively, while Sunanda Basu won the Best presenter for the Theme the Paradox, Irony and Conundrum of Artificial Intelligence AI or I.
The Conference also included faculty participation from Loreto College as Judges: Dr. Ranjita Dawn, Dr. Suparna Ghosh and Ms. Nayanika Saha.
Overall, the collaboration marked a significant step in strengthening inter-institutional academic partnerships and reaffirmed the commitment of both institutions to nurturing informed, reflective, and socially conscious learners.
