The Department of Economics, Loreto College, Kolkata, organised an Alumna Lecture on January 6, 2026. The lecture was delivered by Ms. Shreela Seal, alumna of the department and currently working as Associate Manager at Ernst & Young. The topic of the lecture was "Regulatory Perspective on the Issue of NPAs in the Banking Sector.
The session commenced with a warm welcome and introduction of the speaker by Ms. Saloni Roy, a 2nd year student of the Department of Economics, who highlighted the academic background and professional journey of the alumna. Ms. Seal's lecture provided valuable insights into the concept of Non-Performing Assets (NPAs), their classification, regulatory framework, and the role of institutions such as the RBI in managing banking sector risks. Drawing from her professional experience, the speaker effectively bridged theoretical concepts with real-world regulatory practices.
The lecture enabled students to gain a clearer understanding of the evolving challenges faced by the banking sector and the importance of regulatory oversight in ensuring financial stability.
