Signing of Memorandum of Understanding between Loreto College and Edunet Foundation

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Loreto College, Kolkata and Edunet Foundation, a prominent organization dedicated to youth skill development on June 24, 2025. As an initiative of Placement Cell, this partnership aims to integrate the globally recognized IBM SkillsBuild Program into the college's skill enhancement program to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements.

The IBM SkillsBuild program offers a free, comprehensive digital learning platform with over 8,000 courses covering a wide range of topics, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, and professional workplace proficiencies like communication and problem-solving. It provides opportunities for students to earn industry-recognized digital credentials and gain hands-on experience through project-based learning.

The primary objectives of this MoU are to:

  • Enhance Digital and Professional Skills: Equip students with cutting-edge digital and essential professional skills relevant to Industry 4.0 technologies and beyond.
  • Improve Employability: Increase the employability of graduates by providing them with skills and certifications highly valued by employers.
  • Foster Experiential Learning: Promote a culture of practical, project-based learning, allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world challenges.
  • Align with National Education Policy (NEP) 2020: Support the NEP 2020's emphasis on vocational training and competency-based education.
  • Provide Access to Global Resources: Grant students and faculty, access to IBM's world-class learning content, software, and cloud-based services.


The signing of the MoU between Loreto College, Kolkata, and Edunet Foundation for the IBM SkillsBuild Program marks a significant milestone in empowering the next generation of professionals. This collaboration is a testament to both organizations' commitment to fostering skill development and enhancing employability, ultimately contributing to a more skilled and future-ready workforce.
